Tony:
RE: the below................
I am totally disgusted and ticked off over the weeks and weeks of hassle
over this matter. In no way could these battered TSO's be considered "back
issues", as last September I sent you a check for $120 covering three years
membership renewal, and have not as yet received any acceptable TSO's. Now,
if you, as registrar, lost track of this payment, I don't see how this is my
fault. My local PO tells me that you should certainly have received the
refused TSO's, but as they were sent media mail, there may be postage due,
which you have not paid. Therefor, you can just cancel my membership in the
NEMGT Register, and return my 120 bucks. I'll expect a check by this time
next week.

Don: Right now, I don't have any intentions. As I stated in my first
response to this discussion thread, I sent your package of replacement TSO's
out along with 4 other packages of a similar size, shape, weight, and in the
same packing material. All 5 were sent the same day using the same postal
method, with 1 even going to Canada. 4 out of the 5 got to their intended
recipients intact ... no damage. I have not seen the damaged issues and the
packaging ( or its remains ) that reached you ... they have not shown up in
the PO Box, despite the fact that you sent them to me several weeks ago now.
Until I see them, and can determine who screwed up and damaged the original
shipment, I'm going to reserve judgement on sending you any more back issues
at Register expense

They have not been returned ... I've been looking for them since your last

I have also had problems with this organization and am no longer a
member. I sent many e-mails trying to get my membership renewed and
never received an answer. I just gave up. It just wasn't worth the effort.

Re: battered TSO's
Hi Don,
Having received the wonderful new CD with all the past TSOs, I would be happy
to pass on to you any back TSOs that you are missing, less any with TA or SVW
tickfords. All are in decent shape and never have had any end up missing via
mail over 30 years of receiving them. Of course, I have been at the same
address all that time so perhaps that may be part of it.

Battered TSO's

Don:
Before you get everyone in the world upset, let's
review the facts and the
timeline:
- somehow your renewal of
September 2004 was not processed ... crap all over
me on this one if you
want, but at least feign some compassion for a Register
volunteer who
still works a 65 + hour work week and travels 17 days a month.
And
remember, I process 2500 + renewals ( 2500 checks / credit cards plus
2500
database updates ) in August and September with only a handful
falling through
the cracks;
- it took you until March 20, 2005 to
realize that you weren't receiving
TSO's, and then you contacted the
ex-Chairman of the Register and not me.
Interestingly enough, the past 4
years issues of TSO have asked the membership to
contact me for problems
related to their dues and receipt of the magazine ... and
you can't deny
knowing this, because you sent the original renewal to me;
- upon
receipt of his reply telling you to contact me, you sent me an e-mail
on
March 21, 2005;
- your missing TSO's were sent to you by the end of
April, 2005. They went
out with 4 other shipments in similar packaging,
all of which got there intact (
one even went to Canada and got there in
fine condition ).
- you sent me a note on May 14th indicating that
the TSO's had arrived
damaged and that you had returned them to
me;
- I sent you a note advising that I wanted to inspect the damaged
TSO's and
packaging to see what the cause was ... maybe I'm being too
prudent a steward
of the Register's money, but we spend a lot of money on
postage and have had
some USPS initiated difficulties from time to time
in the past that have cost us
real dollars. One of my goals is to fix the
USPS problems that cause
membership dissatisfaction;
- The
returned TSO's have not arrived at the PO BOX ... your "cheap
shot"
about the Register not being willing to pay Postage Due
notwithstanding, neither
the magazines nor a demand for postage due have
been received as of this date.
I sent you an e-mail early this week
advising you of same;
The above sets the record straight on what has
transpired so far ... you can
deny it if you want to, but I've got the
e-mail dialogs that prove my side of
the story.
Here's one more
point ... I have not said I won't send you a replacement for
the damaged
issues which replaced the originally missing issues. What I did
say was
that I wanted to find out why they got damaged, so that the next
mailing
gets to you intact and in pristine condition.
Best

I'm
not prepared to forget it ... your broadcast message "to the
world" has
unfairly impugned the reputation of the Register and its
all-volunteer staff.
It's now time for you to uphold your obligation
to the Register membership,
and work within the processes and their
associated timelines to help all of us
avoid this type of problem in the
future.
As I indicated in my last e-mail to you, I will await the
arrival of the
returned TSO's before making any decision on replacement
of the issues.

I
have been paying attention ...
Your choice of resigning from the
Register is yours to make ... and can be
invoked at any time and for any
reason.
Like most ( if not all member-based organizations ) our
policy is that there
are no refunds when a member resigns in mid-term ...
so I don't think you
should expect a return of your funds anytime
soon.

I believe that I've made myself abundantly clear. CANCEL my membership and
REFUND the $120 I sent you (apparently foolishly) last September. If you do
not intend to do this, let me know so that I can take the next step. I have
not received any acceptable merchandise from NEMGTR since last September.

Don:
There is no intent on anyone's part to "stiff
you" ... the fact of the
matter is that we're dealing with several
issues that you seem unable to comprehend
or take any partial
responsibility for.
Let me summarize for you:
> it took
you 4 months to realize TSO wasn't getting to you;
> the Register
worked to rectify the problem and sent missing issues to you
in 5
weeks
> the missing issues got damaged in transit;
>
you sent the damaged issues back Postage Due and they have not yet
arrived
... that was 3 weeks ago;
> I'm still more than
willing to send a replacment for the damaged issues ...
once I find out
how we can avoid the replacement shipment from also
getting
damaged;
I think that recaps the story so far
...

Don, please take your squabble with the New England MG 'T' Register off
list. This isn't an appropriate venue for it.

I agree with Chip. This list is not the place to vent at the Register.
