Whenever we get into color discussions, there is always a difference of opinions. I have three prewar cars with darker brown badges. I posted the note from Sports and Vintage about the lack of agreement by experts in the UK. I will note that I acquired my TC in the late 70 s and my badge is lighter, similar but not quite as orange as Duncan s. I also believe that age and sunlight have an effect on color. I also think like paint batches, especially years ago, varied from batch to batch. Surely MG didn t order one batch of badges in 1929, which lasted to 1952. So probably all the variations might be correct. I am sure that my 47 TC badge is not original as I replaced it back then, probably from Moss. Mike From:

Duncan, So, what you're saying is, "This radiator medallion is without doubt original. Color reproduction in picture finally came out true with fluorescent lights on in garage, flash on camera, and garage door open while sun close to setting. It is not really orange as Roger said, but it is surely not brown either. Orange is a closer description than brown. Not sure what the best description of the color is. Note the dimples.."and "Here is another shot of the radiator badge on the unrestored '49 TC my dad got in '52." you have undeniable proof that the badge is original, although you state that your dad didn't obtain the car until it was three years old,Hmm... without a doubt, that's a pretty bold statement. I would describe it as more a bronze-orange, or similar to a "popular" spray on tan. DuncanCalifornia On Sunday, August 12, 2018, 9:03:19 PM PDT, David Lodge

The following is from Sports and Vintage UK, the largest and oldest firm supplying prewar MG Parts. We have seen original badges on pre war cars of both light and darker brown on cream, we decided to produce a large batch of 100 of each type! So now we can offer both colours at the market leading value price of 28 each We know opinion is divided on which looks better and indeed which is correct , in fact at Stoneleigh show 2 eminent MMM owners offered completely different `opinion as to which was correct for their J2 . They each bought a different badge! The picture really doesn`t do these badges justice, the enamel is the best we have ever seen ! So please specify light or dark brown on cream badge when ordering. If you go to their web site and click on chrome and badges , both are illustrated. Yes the lighter is more amber, the darker more brown. So, like the great debate on the color of early TC fire walls,(please let s not get into it again) There is no agreement on the exact brown in the medallion. I prefer the dark brown because I like the look. Mike From:

Second pic of G is without flash, and a bit darker that what is actually there.. Spare tire spinner MG logo also original and identical in color..Duncan-TC9866 On Saturday, August 11, 2018, 8:09:14 AM PDT, 'Jean Vignau'
