TC Master Cylinder
It looks like I have the wrong lenght piston in the repro M/C. Does anyone have an extra 1-11/16 inch piston they are willing to sell? Also, anybody know what the 2 inch piston fits. It appears to be the same diameter as the original TC piston. BTW, Thanks to the group members who reponded to my original message.

Not necessarily. It may be the wrong piston for an original M/C but if the repro M/C is machined differently then the longer piston may be what is needed. Could be an original shorter piston would be way too short and not work either in the repro M/C. The main forward cup should just clear the small port to the reservoir in the rest position. If too far back then pressure is lost as fluid returns to the reservoir on the initial part of the stroke. There is also the matter of the secondary port and it needs to basically stay between the two cups. If you are not sure what should clear what then perhaps showing someone experienced in brakes can inspect. David, That was my original thought also, so I pulled the tail housing off
and looked inside the M/C. With the piston in the at rest position, the
primary cup covers the small hole to the rear. The bottom-line is the piston
is too long for the repro M/C.

TC Master Cylinder
Does anyone have a used original master cylinder with a good fluid
reservoir can? I'm looking for just the can with the lid.
Thanks.

Hi,
I have attached a closeup photo of the master brake cylinder and the push-rod from the brake pedal. Is the angle between them OK? If not, how do I get them to align?
Thanks,

Manny, it is a little low. Also, the master cylinder pushrod ball socket has a section broken out.
Loosen the nut on the backside of the gusset holding the master cylinder to the frame.Move the master cylinder upwards, towards the floorboards.Tighten the nut.
That's about it.

Eric Worpe's very helpful paper on brakes on Totally T-types 2 gives an excellent explanation of the push rod to master cylinder angle (as well as everything else!):

hi Manny - this is quite normal! It does not look correct, but this is how they are.
Doug Pelton has a better solution with a swivel link instead of a ball-joint. Look at:

I've never heard of this...any chance you can post a photo comparing old and new, Doug? I looked at FTFU technical and didn't see anything there.
