top speed, now ethanol

I've had mine at ~120 indicated, not sure actual as I dont have a GPS on the bike. It's probably closer to 100 mph. Flat ground with a 16 tooth front sprocket. I'm sure that they are computing the top speed, not running the bike in the wind. Rich in Newberg, OR

I think Ca Stu had his pegged at 140 on the end of the White Rim once (in sand) smoking a cig drinking some Tequillia. I was trying to follow him but didn't have much luck catching him and I was doing a ton 8. I think he runs mineral oil in his bike. Criswell

I've also read of people getting 110 real-world MPH out of the Versys, which still has a long(ish) throw suspension. -Jeff Khoury

I have thought of trading Concours for a Versey but like the driveshaft on the Connie although it is a bit heavy around town. I sure like the Versey especially the new black / flat black one. Seems to be a nice size bike. Not too big or too small and probaly do gravel roads pretty good. Criswell Sent from my iPhone

Fasteddiecopeleand has a collection of versis frankenbikes pictures, one in particular in OZ that is incredible. If one was very capable in fabrication and alteration, it would be an interesting project. Basically: The primary mods were muffler, a swing arm swap, and dual sport tires, foot pegs. I think it also included some head-light fabrication. revmaaatin.

I got 107mph indicated on my stock KLR, naked, on a dry lake bed at 4000' with no tail wind (farting excluded). ATGATT was strapped to the rack during that run. Disclaimer: Professional idiot in an uncontrolled enviroment... do not attempt at home!   West (who loves that fact that he "knows" the top speed of at least one of his bikes)

Ron, I have 15,600 miles on my '08 Versys, quite a few of which are on dirt roads with street tires. LOVE the bike, best handling bike I've ever ridden, and next tires may be DS ones. One rider claims 12.*sec/ 112mph in the quarter. Ed
