>>42. Flashing is good for you
Turn signals get your attention by flashing, right? So a few easy taps on the pedal or lever before stopping makes your brake light more eye-catching to trailing traffic.

I whack the throttle a few times to raise and lower the headlight if I see someone I deem "indecisive" when turning or pulling out. More effective on the FJR, as it always has plenty of torque to push the front nose up a bit, but it seems to work on the KLR as well. It seems to be just enough to wake 'em up and let them know "Hey, here I am! Don't hit me, doofus!" --Jonathan "smthng" Kalmes Springfield, VA 2005 Yamaha FJR1300ABS - "Blue Bayou" 2006 Jeep Unlimited Rubicon - "Teflon" 2008 Kawasaki KLR 650 - It's here, but it hasn't earned a name yet. ;) http://smthng.info "If I'd known it was harmless, I would have killed it myself."

I've heard people say that they weave side-to-side just a little bit in order to draw attention. ----- Original Message ---- From: smthng else To: KLR List DSN_klr650@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Friday, July 4, 2008 8:12:07 PM Subject: Re: [DSN_KLR650] 50 Ways to Save Your Life - Motorcyclist Magazine

Never use them but have seen those things that make your head light kinda blink or flash. Really gets your attention. Don't know about how they work at night or if there is a switch that you can control the "flashing" of the headlight to make it like a "normal" light or not.

Cough. In the time is takes to do all these gyrations described, prescribed, suggested, one could be slowing down, rather than gyrating towards the accident site. The gyrations described, prescribed, suggested--eat up valuable time/distance and make the outcome quite predictable. If you are inclined to follow the gyrations described, prescribed and suggested: Please sign you donor card. revmaaatin.

Headlight modulator. They have a light sensor to turn them off at night. And yeah, they're legal, it's federal law. -E
