You are right - I am sending over 20K in taxes to feed and support - What are YOU sending to your government? Drivel? I'd call "near-socialist" a fact. No difference between the Republicans and the Democrats. They both want to redistribute more and more of our money. When you see all those buildings in DC chock-full of beaurocrats you realize a huge downside of redistribution. The overhead! Bush and Kerry both are on the campaign trail trying to buy votes. From what I can tell the only difference is Bush would run up the defecit while Kerry would jack up the tax rates. You are right about D.C. Every American should visit there and realize all those buildings are gov. biz. The museums are a real plus there however. Criswell John S Harper wrote:

What the? Is this the pot calling the kettle black? Don't you work for IBM, which to my knowledge, is one of the worst corporate bureaucracies in the world? And you're bitching about governmental overhead? Sheesh. The nerve. Z

There's a huge difference between a corporate bereaucracy and a government one. A corporate one has to make a profit You know what happens when we don't make money? We have layoffs. The government can simply raise taxes. When's the last time you heard about a government agency doing layoffs? The FAQ's statement about not changing anything but the paint covers it. We don't find out about the minor changes until after the fact, and any major changes would probably be advertised. Krokko -- Dr. J. Christopher Krok John Lucas Adaptive Wind Tunnel Caltech MS 205-45, Pasadena, CA 91125

Ah no, you go running to government for subsidies and tax breaks. And ineptitude is ineptitude regardless of who or how it's done. Don't you think that $75billion+/year (1997) to the F500 in governmental subsidies is overhead? And what would happen if that was cut? You'd lose your job, then be ranting from the other side of the fence. Z DC

I give. I guess your basic point is that because I work for a giant corporation I can't criticize big government. If anything, maybe I can see the inherent problems. :-) And yes, I think the huge gov. tax breaks to F500 companies are wrong. Sort of. Let's just say given the current tax code, I think the tax breaks are wrong. I don't think I'd ever be likely to rant from the socialist side of the fence. But hey, never say never. This is my last comment on the topic so feel free to get in the last word.
