probably been through this before but why don't the police in the
United States wear modern equipment? with flip front helmets you
would not look like robo cop approaching a motorist. the cops on
horses bicycle and on foot can do all the public relations. a swat
team member would not show up dressed like a WW1 soldier looks like
the FOP or the insurance companys would do something

motorcycle policemans riding gear nklr
The riding pants a lot of them wear are actually pretty decent, they
call them "40mph pants" as a joke.
A lot of the rest of it, the half helmets, the short sleeves, comes
from the need for completely unobstructed visibility and immediate
mobility.
Stopping a vehicle is the riskiest thing a cop does, with domestic
violence calls being a runner up. You can't be distracted even for a
moment having to take a helmet off or putting one back on. In a blink
a perp could go for you. A flip-front would be great for pulling over
Joe Citizen, but man, I can assure you you won't want anything more
than the bare minimum if someone starts to brawl with you.
It's bad enough wearing all the web gear a cop has to wear, that crap
is an instant handle right at your center of gravity when brawling, it
is a PAIN IN THE ASS if you get a crackhead with a good hold on your
web gear. It's hard enough to brawl someone down, think about trying
that with full riding gear on....no way.

well if i could design my own equipment i would want a kevlar helmet
of some sort with as much bullet resistant features as could be had.
i would want a voice actuated radio that would work with the lid up
or down. same bullet resistance along with motogp skid armor which
should work well together. i would want probably a cross draw
holster arangement that would hold pistols internally with nothing
to grab onto. could go on with lipstick cameras but i would want
that probably on the bike. i would much rather forearm smash a thug
with an armored jacket than a short sleeve shirt. would rather
maintain contact and wait for help if i could.many arguments here
about helmet visibility i've never had any trouble seeing out. and
what is an officer to do no matter how he is mounted to do on a -
10night?
