In the real world, the closest an F650 will venture to a Third World country is, let's say, Moab

Yet again you're being selfish. You'd give the locals an experience they'd never forget. They might even set up a shrine to you. Bogdan> I wouldn't prance about in a Laura Ashley outfit in > western Ecuador. > > Fireball >

Don't worry, Fred. He isn't referring to South Moab. Fireball> EXCUSE ME, PANCHO!!??

Wish my travel history was that rational; or do I? Bogdan> The truth is, is > that while we like to dream that our bikes can handle the rigors of > world wide travel, the majority of us will never come to realize that > dream. > > MR >

This is an image I will carry for a long time - frilly and floral,
sidesaddle on a KLR.
Who needs aerostich when you could do Laura Ashley.

Depends on the manufacturer, installer, and purchaser. (Missed this point to ponder.) Also, I don't want to mess with the extra weight.> BMW accessories don't depend on anything.
Thanks for the enlightenment, all this time I thought that the "Fine German Engineering" couldn't handle a "redneck repair". MacGuyver> Last I checked, the F650 was a motorccyle made out of metal, > plastic and rubber just like a KLR. Duct tape and bailing wire > should work just fine.

At bike week 00', I rode the GS1150 on the race track. It blew my mind
with how well it did around the curves. I really wanted one after that,
but ooooh, that price is just too high, and it's just ooooh so big.
Rode the F650 around the track and had so much fun swinging the tail around
the curves, I just thought I had to have one. Couldn't wait for the new
model to come out. Just about plopped my money down at the dealer waiting
for one, but decided to wait a bit.
A buddy bought a DR650. Rode it around. Wow, this is a fun bike too.
Wow, $3000.00 cheaper.
Saw a new 01' KLR650. Neat silver color. Cheaper than the DR650. Decided
to buy it. Hoped I'd like it. Drove it 325 miles the first day. Stopped
once, just to get gas. Loved every minute of it. Spending that extra
$3000.00 on other stuff.
Enough said.

Did the F650 you rode have EFI......or was the tank under the seat? The Dakar has those.....with longer legs, 21"frt. rim, square stock frame, 423 wet lbs., twin exhaust(more and quieter flow)......its grooooovey baby! .....it shreds! looking at my lotto tickets....
