Working on a design for the waist tilt mechanism, i can't use the usual Mike Joyce design. Can anyone who has built one tell me the maximum angle the waist typically tilts to?
Thanks,
Mike H

Re: Maximum waist tilt angle
Hi Mike,
If your talking about the original TV robot I've seen him bend way over on the show. I'd be afraid to let my robot bend over that far. Lots of stress on the waist section and what ever is holding it together. Then there's the whole top heavy issue. Ya need a lot of counter weight down below. However you probably thought of all that. I'd be happy with the angle you see on the show when the power pack is pulled. Sadly I can't quite get that much tilt out of mine with the size motor I use to pull it down. Here's a few shots attached:

Thanks, but no, I'm not thinking about bending that far. Just wondering how much tilt people are getting from the Mike J design.

Attachments :Oh, Sorry. I don't know if this will help but here's a few pics of how far my setup goes. It's a Mike J design.

Can anyone who has built one tell me the maximum angle the waist typically tilts to?

Re: Maximum waist tilt angle
I can't give you a measurement - but you can see it in action - just search for B9Greg on YouTube - or better yet subscribe and you will see all the videos that I have posted. Several dealing with the hip movement.

Thanks, but no, I'm not thinking about bending that far. Just wondering how much tilt people are getting from the Mike J design.

Hi Mike,
If your talking about the original TV robot I've seen him bend way over on the show.
