Does anyone know where a set of the original headlight housings or complete
headlight assemblies for the MG TB can be found? Prefer in good to great to
NOS shape, but will consider others.
Best,

Hello Ray,
Now, I'm not saying that I have a good set of original TB headlamps and
I'm not saying that I don't have a good set of original TB headlamps
but, just supposing that I did have a good set of original TB headlamps
and just supposing that I wished to sell that set, what would you say
that they might be worth?

Re: [mg-tabc] lights
Ray,
Thank goodness when I needed a set of headlamps for TC0275, a true
fellow enthusiast offered his. Hugh Pite sold me an excellent pair for
a fair price. He didn't play "what are they worth to you" games. Nor
did he put them on E-Bay, hoping to drive the price up further. A
fellow from my own club wanted to sell me a pair for double what Hugh
sold them for. Seems like so many people want just to make a buck off
every thing they do. Doesn't bode well for the future of the sport...
I don't have the lamps you need, but whenever I sell a part to a
fellow enthusiast, (I usually give parts away...) it is NEVER at a
profit. Maybe I'll never have a big collection of classic cars
financed by other guys, but I'd rather be generous with what has been
given to me, not stingy. Good luck, hope you find a true and genuine
enthusiast who would share your passion in getting your car together.

Re: [mg-tabc] lights
Ray,
I'm not actually sure that what i have is what you want. The lights I
have are like TC lights but with the slightly convex "U" lenses and
single filament bulbs with one fixed reflector and one moveable
reflector for "dipping". This style of lamp may be more suitable to an
older car than to your TB. Perhaps someone else knows the answer.
Regarding price, I know that Komrad Dunn feels that I should give these
lights to you because we both own MGs and we should therefore share the
wealth, however, I feel I owe it to my family to sell them at a fair and
reasonable retail price, problem is, I really have no idea of what that
may be. That is why I don't like to sell items this way and prefer
ebay.

will tell you if the TB's continued this practice. The lense would be
correct for TA/TB and early TC.
Prices for lamps are all over the place due to condition and cost of repain
and rechrome. Barry Walker would sock it to you for these....others would be
more fair, but as Derek sez, the only real way to determine the fair price is
by auction. I would have no problem running mini auctions here on the list
because if you put it on Ebay, the likes of Barry Walker gets access and all
he wants to do it resell and make a few or many pounds.
I have it on good authority that Derek is a decent guy. (In spite of his
tendency to make sarcastic remarks) This from one whom I totally respect and
who has served our passion for many years. Derek is now in a position where
he has to support himself by selling off his collection. I will soon be in
that same position. Lets all cut each other a little slack!!
If you want to give your buddy a part, fine, if you want to sell it but don't
know whats fair, fine too. Ask the list or offer the part the part on the
list.

Hi T Typers, with reference to Ray McCray's problem. I would go with safety every time, after all if you don't turn the lights on (day time that is) nobody will know whether its original wiring or not....and at night... well I would rather see and be seen than be lying in a hospital bed dreaming about my TC. PS: If you don't have any concerns about your body...have some concerns about your TC..... every damaged TC is one less to drive and enjoy and have FUN. Safety fast............................Morris

Morris,
Could not agree with you more. More light=more safety for car AND driver!!
Let's all do whatever we can to preserve the limited number of TCs for the
enjoyment of future generations. Keeping a TC on the road is a marvelous
test of both character and determinatio, and the world needs more of both.

Lights
My husband attached some model T reproduction (from JCWhitney)tail lights to
the bolts on the side of the gas tank trim panels. Works well (and cheap)
and caused no holes to be drilled. They are almost level with the top of
the tank.

Re: Lights
Hello Sally,
I've seen a set-up like that and I agree it's a most attractive
and non-destructive solution, especially as the setup I saw was
directly wired to the fuse box/cut-out, if memory serves, and was
removable in minutes if not seconds.
