TC Windshield

Post by stolzy40@aol.com » Sun Apr 16, 2000 9:08 pm

What is the difference between a TC and TD windshield? Today I was replacing
the glass on the newly rechromed windshield frame. The length of the glass
was about 5/8 inches too short from side to side. The glass was purchased
from Abingdon Spares.
The replacement glass measured 36-5/8 inches at the top of the windshield and
37-3/4 inches at the bottom. The old glass was 5/8 inch wider. I'm wondering
if I got a bad piece of glass or have the wrong windscreen. BTW, the
windscreen came off a TC. It looks like a TC windscreen from the best I can
tell.
Also, thanks for the info on focusing the headlights. I did as advised and
your right, it was a simple process.

TC windshield

Post by Brian Rowe » Sat Mar 13, 2004 3:58 pm

Hello all,
Have recently purchased basket case TC #7006 and have been gathering up
missing bits and pieces. One of the main things still to find is a
windshield . If anyone out there has an extra one somehow I would very much
like to hear from you. Have a restored TF at present that I will be selling
to finance TC rebuild. Owned TC #6964 for 25 years and looking forward to
sitting on the right side again..

TC windshield

Post by rob » Mon Apr 20, 2009 11:22 am

Hi - I've been working my way through finishing the restoration of TC9657, and have now turned my attention to the windshield.

The previous owner had used silicon goop to seal the windshield in the frame instead of the rubber strip. I removed the frame (after considerable work with a razor blade to cut through the silicon) but I found that the edge of the glass near the wiper motor mount has three small cracks.

Although they're not visible with the rubber strip, I'm loathe to go through all the work to install a dodgy windshield, and would rather replace the glass.

Any guidance on the type of glass to use etc?

Thanks, Robert

Speaking of TC windshields, I need the top section to complete a TC wind
shield. Tree fell on the car and busted the top section.
I would consider a complete surround or even complete screen but really only
need the top section.
A TD top section could be made to work by reducing the width if all else
fails and one is available.
Please email or call if you have a top section. TC is about 38 1/16" long,
end to end.
Thanks, Bob

Robert -
General consensus on the list is to recommend taking your frame to a good automotive glass shop. They can cut a new piece of glass and install it inexpensively.
I have an original piece of glass out of TC0273's windscreen if you need a pattern.

Isn't a TD windshield wider than a TC windshield?

Certainly, the TC cowl brackets will fit on the TC windscreen.  However when you go to put the TD windscreen on the TC you will be disappointed since the TD windscreen is a couple of inches wider than the TC windscreen.            Hugh Pite ----- Original Message ----- From: toyboy44@gmail.com [mg-tabc] To: mg-tabc@yahoogroups.com Sent: Tuesday, May 19, 2015 8:12 AM Subject: [mg-tabc] TC WINDSHIELD
