Hi Mark, I have one of these larger ball joints. It came with a bunch off
parts when I bought a TC, some of these parts were from a Morris 10 . I
always assumed the the larger ball joint was from the Morris 10. It was
also the steering drop arm ball joint.

My TC had the larger ball at the steering drop arm when I went through
restoration. I utilzed the Datsun steering box that Skip got me and at that
time used the smaller ball with new seats. I was a bit baffled by it as
well. I messed with it quite a bit and it is safe and secure. Not sure if
it was original or not.
