BlankHI TROOPS
TC 7025 roared to life this afternoon after 6 months in hibernation for a long cold winter and a cold rainy spring in Northern
Michigan. Running great with 50psi oil pressure and 65 water temp.
Fun to have the wind running across my bald head again. Got lots of waves and shouts as I drove around.

Hi all, I have recently been in hospital and although the futures not too gloomy its brought home the truth that its time to get rid of the projects and use the machines I can. So I am hoping to clear my garage and the parts that as going to be a tc racer would clear a large place in my garage for starters.
There is an early td or y Xpag engine minus a few parts, tc g/box ,f &R axles , steering box, 4 good original wheels running boards , petrol tank and other parts that I would like to exchange for a douglas m/cycle MK possibly that I can use or failing that sell as a lot.
there is also a ta bellhousing, needing repair c/w a mowog box which seems to have the same ratios as a ta (no remote) for whatever is a reasonable price
I also have a largish collection of Octagon bulletins and safety fast, a box full of parts manuals for 70s and 80s british cars (rover, triumph, jaguar etc ex main dealers in poor condition but useful and dirt cheap )
and several 50s and 60s jaguar manuals /parts books which are not.
I also have a supercharger primer pump with octagonal brown knob that came with a box of bits for my K1 tourer many years ago which I suppose ought to be on a mmm model. I dont really want to spend my time selling them on ebay or piece meal

BlankHi Gang,
Awhile back there was a discussion about coils and decals. I checked mine and it has a decal on it which says 12V HA 12 Lucas made
in England decal on it. I did replace the coil in 1958 when I rebuilt the engine and it came from Moss and was a high performance
coil as I remember. With the higher compression and a hot cam the car started better. The numbers stamped on the bottom of the coil
are HA12, 45075B, 257. It's been a good coil as there is no points burning and the plugs have the nice light brown color to them
when I last looked. Have not changed the point or plugs in many years.

Ed McCord,
I have known Ed for about ten years.I have purchased thousands of dollars of MG parts with great satisfaction. Few are more Knowable on things MG, and very few have his warehouse of MG parts! Ed is building a classic 1950's vintage racer! I once purchased an oil pump from Ed for a TC. I turned out the body was for a TD. He exchanged out the parts very quickly.
Terry, my suggestion is to contact Ed with your question and get it resolved.

Hello, the Group,
Here's a riddle. Who has the answer?
The fool thought he knew the answer before he asked the question. But, being a fool, was unabashed in the asking.
"Master, How can I stop the dripping from the oil pan on my TB?"
A fatalist, he had always accepted the stoic proposition that, "If there's oil in the pan, it will drip."
The Master, who knew everything abour MG's, and in particular, T Series MG's said...
" ???? ." (Fill in the blank)

Hi Group,
The top oil filters seem to be Wix and Napa Gold and I forgot to write down the part numbers of these filters that fit Bob
Grunau great filter adapter. Can some one send me the numbers as I can get these filters locally.
Thanks

BlankHi group,
I have a Feb 1953 issue of Auto Age and there is an article titled "when in doubt Modify".
It's about a TC that was converted to a race car named "THIAS". Great looking car. Is anyone familiar with this car? The car was
raced on the west coast and the owner is Alfred Coppel

Dear Madhu,
Many thanks for the explanation - it actually makes more sense that the "smoke in the wire" theory!
I spent this morning changing the regulator for one that Jack loaned me but the red light stayed on.
Last night I drove home in the dark, about a 30 / 45 minute drive in the TC. Lights on and no problems (except the red light) so I guess the battery is charging, but not fully. The ammeter swung half way into the negative side.
The reason for my question was that since I had removed the generator / dynamo maybe I got the wires crossed despite my careful notes. You may recall the issue started when I noticed the red light come on AFTER I had turned off the ignition. Now that is no longer the case but the opposite happens. Hence my question "Is the F terminal on the left or right looking from the back" Size does not help as they look the same to me - I did not rewire the car, blame the previous owner!

Dear Malcom,
The Dynamo will not work and battery will not charge !!!
_______________________________________________
Now I had to explain it to you like I do in the kindergarten.
In the Dynamo as we refer to TC, there are two parts. One stationary and
the other rotating part. We need two different magnetic fields to generate
Voltage/current. So let us start with the filed winding. It is stationary.
It is just a coil or copper wire winding. One side of this copper wire is
earthed and the other is connected to the battery.
In our case the one wire ( F) in our TC is the Field winding is connected to
battery. The other end is earthed. So current will flow now from the battery
creating a magnetic filed by the stationary winding.
I think so far it is very simple. Hope you can follow. It is similar to a
bulb connecting to a battery poles. Current will flow from one pole of the
battery to other pole of the battery via the bulb. Now the bulb get heated
and part of the energy turn into light energy.
Now let us go to the rotating part. This is also a copper coil. But
connecting a rotating coil direct to battery is difficult. So this is done
by the collector and the cole brush. Now here also one end is earthed and
the other end is connected to the battery. Now if you rotate the winding it
will generate voltage. and feed into the battery.
But there are many other control function.
You do not want the stationary winding to be connected to the battery
permanent killing the battery. So you have this Ignition switch.
Then again you do not want the energy from the dynamo when the battery is
fully charged. So the Filed winding can be switched off. The is done by the
cut out (Voltage) relay.
There is also another switch needed to prevent current flowing from the
battery to the rotating coil. This is done by the voltage relay.
Only when the red light of the dash board is off dynamo is connected to
battery. The rotating part got some residual magnetism. The more it rotate,
greater the magnetic field. So it is called a dynamo.
Now by changing the wires you are ...not...feeding to the battery supply to
the wrong terminal " D" to initiate a stationery magnetic filed. So the
confusion. The regulator can not work.
So those electrical professionals, please do forgive me for this stupid
explanation. I just want to help Malcom with my limited knowledge !!!! The
expalnation can go loooong if needed.
