I am planning to take my MG TC to England for a 4-month stay during the
Summer of 2000. My current insurance is not valid outside the USA. Seeking
any info. regarding sources of coverage with UK-based insuror. (One such
company turned me down on the basis that they "do not insure visitors, or
short-term residents". Seems like a rather silly attitude to me, but maybe
they have good reason. Who knows?)
Regards to all,
Carl Fritz

Fritz...We have been down this road before..Insurance is difficult for
such cars but TRY THE MG OWNERS CLUB IN CAMBRIDGE WHO HAVE A GOOD
INSURANCE OPERATION. If you want further details contact me for an Email
address..they may not be able to help but its worth a try.
PS have you ever tried to bring a car to the USA for a short period and
get insurance! it not easy.

True, when my friend Harry Pyle brought his TC to America a few years back he
though he had arranged with the Oz AA to have our AAA insure it but when we
checked, they would not insure a car that old. So a few phone calls and we
ended up with a Farmers agent who was happy to do it....so you've got to shop
around. I would suspect aht the RAC has a web site that could
illuminate.....also your own homeowners or auto insurance might cover it.
Several guys on this list shipped cars to England...they must know how to do
it.

Carl
We had a Grand Tour Around Britain a while back, and I believe JCTaylor
handled the appropriate insurance for us at a quite reasonable rate.
Ron Simon handled this part of our tour, and I believe he is on the
list.
You have quite an adventure coming up...hope you enjoy it as much as we
did.
