Octagon Car Club

GentleMGfolk, this will sound like an Advert for said club and it unabashedly
is! So if you don't like adverts, hit delete now!!

For the last two days I've been thumbing through my back issues of the OCC
Bulletin. 10 years worth looking for an article on Altette horns that I know
is there somewhere. Sorry Skip, I couldn't find it. I was impressed all
over again at what a great reservior of technical material is contained in
this magazine.

Its been getting better and better over the past 10 years but there is some
great stuff buried in those back issues. I wonder if anyone has done an over
all index to the technical articles? Would be a great resource for us.

If anyone can put their finger on that Altette article, let me have the
reference. Its you Skip Burns who is INTO horns at present.....

If you don't belong to this club, you should......check out the web site at:

You are both partially right. the OCC Bulletin article is in Issue #265,
March 1992,Page 12. The TSO article is in the April 1996 issue, Page 22. Ha
Ha Grunau I gotcha! Of course I can supply copies to those in need.

To those members who also belong to the Octagon Car Club in England,
note the email I sent To Harry and his response, for your info.:

Dear Jan,

You are still a member. It would appear that a number of the
November Bulletins that were sent overseas have gone missing and
unfortunately we have no copies left. December did not come out due
to our Editor, Rachel, leaving without informing us. Dec/Jan.'s
issue is at the printers and should be dispatched in the next few
days.

Sorry about all this but hopefully we now have it sorted.

Harry

Since having my membership fee deducted from my credit card account
in October, I havn't received any new Bulletins, October being the
last one; did I get dropped, somehow? Jan

Thanks Bob

When I eventually got through they told me that they are
having internet problems. We will have to use snail mail
for the short term ;-).

See my post last week regarding Harry Crutchley.
You should however, get a reply to e-mails. Alternatively, pick up
the phone. (like many listers, you dont say where you are located)

Harry Crutchley WAS the Octagon Car Club - he had his detractors at times,
but the club never ran better than when Harry, with a lot of unsung help
from Jill, was in charge of everything. He was on duty almost 24/7, and that
was one of his undoings, he simply always tried to do too much...

Spares have suffered recently, and now it appears that other things have as
well. But there are some good guys running the office, plus the committee to
back them up, so hopefully the club will not go off the rails...

As to knowing where listers live, just look at the members rosta: the vast
majority are Stateside. Bob Alley is in California, a mere 8 hours time
shifted from the UK...

Roger,
I have not got the time or the inclination to look up peoples
whereabouts in the members rosta.
The reply given to some posts is dependant on where in the world the
person asking the question is located.
It is just lazy for people not to include their location in their
posting.
