Re: Update from Jim
Norman,
I looked through all my records because it was an EXU. Unfortunately I have
no record of it. However, on a positive note, there are many cars that are
not registered with any clubs. I just hope it has not been lost to the
dreaded parts pipeline.
Sorry I could not help.

Re: Update from Jim
TC8239 EXU originally had XPAG 8988. XPAG 8987 was in TC8236 EXU. Maybe
Norman got it wrong, maybe Abingdon did (not unknown!). Either way I have
don't have any record of these two cars.

Roger:
Yes, it appears that Norman had a typo in his email. The TC of his listed in the MG TC Owners Register or vintage 1963 or so shows it to be TC8236EXU, engine XPAG 8987.

became ill and died. He had intended to restore the car and had purchased
many gaskets, brake cylinder kits, and various other parts. The car is an EXU
model and seems to have most of the important bits that are often lost, I am
told. While the current color is yellow, and done very poorly, I might add,
the original color was clipper blue with a red interior. Some of the red
interior remains but most has been replaced with black panels and a black fake
leather cover on the seat. (I shall look under the cover with the hope of
finding the original leather. It is my intention to repaint the car in the original
clipper blue, what ever that color is. Is there a source for modern paint in
the original color. Today I vacuumed and cleaned up as much as possible,
making sure that I salvaged any and all tools, nuts, and stray pieces. Then I
removed the radiator. Unless it is a sin, I shall remove the heater and
simplify the radiator hose system, keeping the heater and hose connectors for
posterity. Next, I'll work to get the engine running in whatever shape it is in.
Then the brakes. I'm sure this is an oft told tale about the early stages of
restoration. My goal is to restore the car as a nearly accurate driver
