G'day Andy,

...that's one hell of a chassis number you have there my son...
no trouble in remembering that one I bet!
I'd like 0666, but I bet it's a devil to find.

Regards and welcome.

For your info the vehicle is completely stripped down ready to start
rebuild, 99% of the vehicle is there. All timber needs replacing some pieces
missing some rotted away. Both side body panels need to be replaced. All
chrome needs re-chroming, the interior is non existence apart from seat
springs and bases.

The car has been apart since 1977! I picked it up six months ago. It went
from England to Germany many years ago and did some hill climb racing there.
Next stop was Los Angeles, California where it was eventually traded for an
old Camaro in 1977 by Richard Billings. It sounds like it was never driven
or licensed in the US. Richard moved a lot, dragging old 0580's bones along
each time, finally ending up in Anacortes, Washington. In May 2005 he sold
it to a chap here in Sidney, BC and I ended up with the heap of bits in Feb.
2006.

The parts have been cleaned, rechromed, repaired or replaced but the wheels
are still not mounted! That should happen soon.

I will be picking all your brains so be prepared. So many unanswered
questions.....

=== and - Phil Marino no longer does the tapered half shafts.

He sold his tooling jigs to Skyhook Engineering, He still does the other
work such as steering box rebuilding.

I acquired this car in 2005 from a member of the family who has owned it
since 1951, I believe. The original owner was a Robert Carbaugh of Newark, NJ.
The second owner (1951) was Tom Carey of Roxbury, CT, the great uncle of the
gentlemen I acquired the car from. I am told that Mr. Carey was the
original interior decorator of the Empire State Building and he raced and showed the
car at Watkins Glen in 1952 (there is a dash plaque and photos). After Mr.
Carey, the car passed to the mother of the gentleman I acquired it from and
she used it until some time in 1969, when it was put in a barn in Connecticut
where it sat until 3-4 years ago.

I am restoring it and am planning to vintage race it as well as drive on the
street. I am going to bore the engine to 1500 specs, with billet crank, new
pistons and rods, Laystall Lucas head, Crane "3/4" race cam,
Italmechanica-Scott supercharger, lightweight flywheel, and alfin brake drums, etc. I am
going to keep the 19 inch wires, but have purchased the new Dayton chrome
versions with cast hubs
