Car was bought from a deceased estate in 2001 after being stored in a shed
for about 15 years. No history was available but she's been quite extensively
modified, probably some time in the 50's. Starting at the front, she has a
strengthened and boxed chassis, telescopic dampers, panhard rod, radius arms, cycle
guards, 15" front and 14" rear wheels, finned brake drums, rack & pinion
steering (Morris?), steel body frame (no wood) with seam welded panels,
reinforcing hoop under the dash (from a TD?), bucket seats, modified instrument panel
and transmission tunnel, and a Holden diff. I've probably missed some details
but I think nothing significant.
We think she was built as a hillclimb car due to the small diameter rear
wheels, but nobody in the local MG car club or historic racing scene recognises
her. This is despite the fact she's been registered locally since 1950.

After owning Morgans on and off for past 45 years, we purchased our TC.
Within a few months we broke the rear stub shaft (axle) at the hub. Actually
about 3/4 of an inch inside the hub.
A new stub shaft and axle was ordered through Moss and received. An aircraft
shop pressed the new axle in hub, shrinking one and heating the other. The
shaft needed tons of pressure, far above specified, and while inserting the
axle, it gauled and drove out metal flakes of hub as it progressed in hub.
Aircraft engineers stated that the hub was not machined properly creating the
gauled metal flakes extruded upon pressure.
The assembled axle/hub was sent to Moss and after examination by
Barrett/Grant in the Tech Department, it was claimed safe for use. But, they would not
sign a statement that it was safe for use.
Not only are we out three hundred dollars, it is still undecided if
the stub/axle is safe to use in said TC.
The "Sacred Octagon" sometimes quotes that the butt end can be carefully spot
welded to insure the axle will not push further outboard of the hub?
This is the second or third time we have had problems with Moss and we are
at a loss as to our next step towards installing this component in our MG.
Trusting for your comments, we remain
Cordially,
Harry Miltner

I sympathize. I also sold my TC due to illness. I was sick of the bloody
thing.

Mr. Badger,
Every time I finish restoring one of these beasts I
feel the same way. You take them apart and you swear
every part came off from another car. Nothing seems to
fit. When its finished, I'm so sick of it I sell it,
and swear never again... then I buy another and do it
all again. I'm a sick monkey..
