You can now fill in that unique blank under my name in the membership list. I
found it! Not only did I find it but I found what I spent two years looking
for. It is an original car, never been apart and has been stored for 25
years. Better still it is a local car
imported by Thomas Plimley the Vancouver/ Victoria MG, Morris, Wolesley,
Riley and Jaguar dealer here in the 1930s through 1960s. That means the car
comes with a few unique dealer extras, fitted as far as I know only in
British Columbia, such as the worlds strongest and best looking antennae
overriders, those special period arrow turn signal lights, a North American
heater and a modification that they didn't always do but
have seen a couple of times- the horn push is removed from the instrument
panel and placed to the right of the steering wheel and replaced with a water
temperature gauge. An arrangement the factory should have done. I will think
long and hard before I will change that back.
The car is TC 8202. That means three consecutive cars on the list.
Haven't checked but it may be a new record. Engine number is XPAG 8959.
I plan to have the car finished in about 2 years. Like some others on the
list I have no mechanical background but I have owned YTEXU 4217 for 45 years
and have twice taken it apart and resurrected it so I have some modest
ability with Whitworth tools. But the YT is in many ways a more
straightforward car; i.e. there is little wood. So you can expect to hear
some cries for advice down the road. I agree with Mike Sherrell
that MGs are an old mans Meccano set. By the way I have all the books.
Being on the list for the past year or so has provided encouragement to take
the plunge. Thanks to all who have emailed me with sugestions of where I
might find a car even if it was not exactly what I was looking for. I would
be most interested to hear from our Australian members about sources of parts
there as both our dollars are in the same tank so that makes parts much more
cost effective.
And finally my initials really are T.C. In the event that someone else should
later surface with the same initials I hereby pre-empt the title TCTerry.
Maybe I will use it after the TCs first spin around the block.

Very early in my working life, a (then) committed bachelor/misogynist friend made his own bumper sticker that read "Life's a bitch, then you marry one"!

Hi Jim,
OCTAGON GARAGE is my part time job, only evening, Saturday and Sunday.
The history is : Since 1985, I have been visiting England at least once a year
and creating good connection in the field of classic car business. Then
gradually people become to ask me to find rare cars or NLA parts or
accessories,
since not many Japanese people can speak/read/write English correctly. And
more
importantly, very very few have right information/connection. Also I have a
quite skill to repair/restore old MGs.
OCTAGON GARAGE covers basically MMM cars but sometimes T series or modern
Midgets MGBs have to be covered depending on customer's request. Importing
classic cars & spares, maintenance & restoration, MOT, etc.
Best regards,
Hiro Nishio

I am trying to track down the last known whereabouts of my father's 1949 MG
TC.
It was exported from the UK in '69-'70 and is believed to have ended up in
the Chicago area. As it is so long ago, he has no details of chassis or
engine numbers, and all we have to work from is the original UK registration
number, HNF 575. When exported the car was carrying a fresh coat of brush
painted 'Royal Blue' coach enamel (applied by his own hand) and a new beige
hood. I know this is a long shot, but its all I've got. I would appreciate it
if you could post this info somewhere it might get seen, and maybe forward
this mail to anyone you think may be able to help.
Yours hopefully,

TC, 1946. Red with tan upholstery. Professional ground-up restoration 15

The pictures of this only begin to do it justice! Not seen on the M.G.

TC, 1948. Red with tan interior. Engine #XPAG/4444, Car #3821. Unfortunately
for me, I must sell my TC that I have owned since 1966. Originally purchased
in Tarzanna, CA and serviced by Moss Motors. Car was partially restored in
1966 but has had less than 2000 miles on it since then. Wood undercarriage
was new then and is in great shape. Wood facia board (dash) was replaced with
new in '66. $18000. Offers considered. Dale Anderson, Omaha, NE (402)

TC 1948 (this one is for sale by our member Tom Wilson)
1948 MG TCBlack with Red interior. Excellent condition. Mechanically strong -
recently rebuilt engine and suspension. Looks and drives great, good show car
as well.
Wood dash fully restored. Car is correct in detail. I've acquired an earlier
TC and am a one-car man. $20,000.

the word "headlight" in the message area (which may have little to do with
the subject of headlights).
