MGTA Colors
Hi All
Does anyone have paint mixing numbers for Racing Green or something close?
Also, what is the log-on and password for the special files?
Thanks
Dennis

Re: MGTA Colors
Dennis - will go back to my painter and get the specs from him. He used a
BRG that has the correct almond tint. This for my '38 TA.

Re: MGTA Colors
Hi Dennis,
You may want to check some original colour sites via Google as there are many versions of Racing Green out there. My chip book from 68 to 72 shows 14 greens for MG alone. A nice early green is BMC code GN25. The ICI # is 8120. This is a medium rich green and looks great on the Tabc cars.
Cheers,
Lee Jacobsen, MI TA2969 tickford

Re: MGTA Colors
Hi Dennis,
I sampled about 10 dark greens a few years back prior to painting my 59' Morgan 4/4. To me, the most correct looking color was (believe or not) Mercedes Benz Dark Olive (DB paint code 291). I'll email you a photo of my Morgan painted in this shade.
Best Regards,
JP

Re: MGTA Colors
SMNI...
Last weekend at an event I was confronted by the considerable presence
of all two tons of a
4 1/2 litre blown Bentley.
FWIW and just to stir the possum, I recall that the so-called BRG colour
is a modern fabrication, the original 'racing' colours of Britain as
worn on the flanks of the steeds of the era was called 'Napier Green'.
(The above Bentley was a surprisingly mid or apple-green.)
I recall as a lad the DBS Astons, upholding the racing honour of the Old
Dart, resplendent in an even lighter shade of (metallic) green, but
maybe this was called Newport Pagnell Green. Who knows... maybe the
Sherriff Clive can elucidate?
Somewhere a few posts back someone ventured that there were thousands of
shades and tints purporting to be... BRG.
I don't know where this is all leading, but as a circuit breaker perhaps
the simple answer is if YOU like it...go for it... then that's where it
all ends.
Reddo BRG TC3306... at least to my bleary eyes
(You can tell it's Friday night!!)

I had the paint on the inside of both doors analyzed by a spectrometer, and both side showed the same values.- An almost imperceptable shade darker that PPG's standard BRG
