Hello fellow listers,
Yesterday (Saturday 17th September) the T Register of the MG Car Club,
here in the UK marked the 60th Anniversary of the first 15 TCs produced
at Abingdon by organising a Run (rally). Fifteen (15) TCs, one (1) TD,
and one (1) TF assembled in The Market Square in the centre of Abingdon,
prior to setting off on a Run through the Oxfordshire and Berkshire
countryside. The cars created a lot of interest (including Central News
Television) and a number of ex Factory employees came along to make
themselves known. A few of these remembered working on the Production
Line on T-Types and the MGA.
Our Run took us to the top of the Berkshire Downs where we toasted the
TC with a glass of champagne and a piece of specially made TC Birthday
Cake. We then came back through racehorse country to The Black Horse at
Gozzards Ford (near Abingdon) for a celebration lunch and some Old
Speckled Hen or Guinness, according to ones choice of beer.
We were especially pleased to receive a large signed photograph from the
TC Tourers of Seattle, Washington, depicting their cars and this really
meant a lot to us. I shall arrange to have it framed and it will have
pride of place along with other memorabilia. Thank you to Bruce and Sue
Knipe for arranging this. Bruce and Sue were due to come with us on the
Run but their vacation got cancelled at the 11th hour due to the
hurricane Katrina aftermath.
I shall be sending a copy of the Roadbook to Bruce and Sue along with a
couple of souvenir Rally Plaques.
Next year the TA is 70, so we ought to think of doing something similar.
Best Wishes,
JOHN JAMES

Sniff sniff
Forgotten again........the TB.
I guess all 35 or so of the survivors will have to get together in 2009.
Seriously, it sounds as though a wonderful time was had by all!
Best,
Ray

Re: 60th Anniversary of the first 15 TCs produced at Abingdon
John;
Thank you for the kind words. We made two copies of the MG-TC Birthday
Poster prominently showing Peter deBruyn's MG-TC 252. One we mail to
you and the T-Register, and the other copy was given to, Peter, Maggie,
& #252 also on September 17th.
I am sorry that I missed both of these birthday parties, be cause I am
getting way to old for the hurricane disaster recovery business.
Hopefully I will meet you at Northern Ireland's birthday party for MG-
TC 10251. Maybe that could be the theme for the 2009 Silverstone event.
Again, Thanks for the Kind Words

As one of the TC owners that took part in the 60th anniversary on Saturday,
I would like to use this forum to thank both John James and John Venables for
organising such a good day out.
The weather also stayed fine and the lunch was excellent.
Thanks again.
