Clutch cover upgrade for TC?

Post by davjak@aol.com » Fri Sep 09, 2005 11:07 pm

Has any one found a "heavy duty" replacement for the TC's clutch cover and
driven disk?
I heard the Alpine (sunbeam) will fit with mods to the dowel pin location.
Any not needing the new dowel pin locations?
Thanks,
Dave

Hi davjak
I have compared the alpine clutch cover plate with a tc/td *inch plate and coverand it seems as though it would fit if the dowel pin arrangement was adapted. Would it not be easier to drill the cover plate to fit the flywheel using the old cover plate as a template. The alpine is of course a diaphragm clutch and the depth of the alpine cover is shallower than the original giving a problem with the relaese bearing.. I have heard that the release bearing from a midget series mk4? 1500cc will overcome this and so I would imagine will some of the triumph 1500 models.

How about someone contacting Zoom clutches or someone and have 'em make a
stronger unit with a diaphragm center or such? They should be able to sell
a few....
