Gas Measurements
Gad:
You are correct-marmalade on the face for that one. Thanks for
the correction to all.
BTW what type of pints are put in the Pumkin- Imperial also? Most likely,
but how do we correlate with US pints. I wish to replace the Pumkin fluid and
not overfill as I am wont with the topping off procedure.
I am under the impression that topping of into the intake pumkin port can
cause excess pressure thruout the axle?
Tally Ho!

Yikes,
I thought the book said to fill to overflowing? Hopefully you guys will have a good answer for this one.

Dear Doug:
I really do not know. But I have been seeing that rumour
for the past 5 years. I was wondering what is the best Pumkin oil for our
TCs. I know that the Red Line fully Synthetic oil 75W-140NS is best for the
tranny and I can attest to that

Re: Gas Measurements
Hey there Doug,
Yes, fill till it overflows per the book. But it does not mean overflowing
out the axle hubs, or overflowing out the fill opening. On the right side
of the pumkin is a hex head plug at a level approximately even with the
bottom of the axle tubes. Remove that plug and pour your oil in the fill
opening on the left side of the pumkin till oil overflows out the lower plug
opening.

Re: Gas Measurements
Redline makes a great gear oil for the rear-end as well. Both clutch-type
posi units and non-posi types are accommodated to my knowledge. They may
have other blends as well.
Best,
Ray

Re: Gas Measurements
As an option, you might consider Penrite Mild EP Gear Oil. I just replaced
the oil in my pumpkin with this and the rear end is noticeably quieter.
While you're at it, and assuming you have retained your Bishop Cam Steering
Box, do try some Penrite Steering Box Lube. It's wild stuff that comes out
as a gel and melts in your hand. When you put it in the box, you have to
work it into the crevices. My, what a difference in steering! And no more
leaks!

Re: Gas Measurements
On the differential, there is an oil filler plug and an oil level indicator
plug. Remove both and fill to overflowing on the oil level indicator plug.

Hey Thom:
RE:
Thom Mudd<
digitaldon points out that here on the Niagara Frontier (with Canada), real
Brit sized pints (20 oz.), are readily available at the nearest waterfront
pub at the corner of Black Creek and the Niagara River, about a ten minute
run from digitaldon's marina on Grand Island. Eat yer hearts out, chaps.

With enough Brit sized pints on board, you can correlate with anyone.
