Grease for T use

Post by dankimberlin » Sun Aug 21, 2005 2:51 pm

Based on my experience with this grease at General Motors I recommend
the chassis lubricant JT6. It is a very tacky, water resistant, grease
that I use both on the chassis and wheel bearings. If you fill just
one wheel bearing with this lube, and spin the bearing you will see why
it works so well. It does not mush out of the bearing as to other
greases. The tack keeps it in the bearing, keeping water, if it leaks
past the seal, out, and keeping lubricant available to the balls. The
only bad things about this grease are removing it from your hands, and
the fact that it is not good for temperatures above 180 F. It is
availble in Tractor Supply Company (TSC) stores.

When replacing the rear wheel bearings using the old style bearings, nuts
etc. one has to shoot some grease into the hub nipple. How many squirts are
generally desired? Each year this should be re-greased. How many then?
