TC alloy valve cover

Post by Chip Hellie » Sat Jul 02, 2005 6:38 pm

Hi List, I just happen to have an original alloy TC rocker cover with flip cap. It is in good shape and I had planned to fit it to my TC but since it isn't correct for my '49 I might be willing to part with it. The words "impossible" and "rare as hen's teeth" got my curiosity up. What's it worth to you guys who need it? I might be talked into selling, after all, if it's so rare I might have a few bucks for a nice vacation! Also have an Arnolt "coffin" alloy cover too. I think the side cover is still available from Moss, but not the rocker cover. Should be worth $125.00 I would think. It's never been used. Feel free to email me with an offer on the TC cover. I really have no idea what it's worth. Chip Hellie __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Chip's message made me think that we need a price guide for TC parts. I don't think that eBay is the answer. He already has a potential buyer but he needs to find a fair price. I'm sure that there are others in similar situations. And there are surely others with parts that they would be willing to sell to other T owners if they knew a reasonable price. Any comments? Hello Charles, Gene, You speak much sense. At present eBay would seem to be the only measure we have of a parts value, but as Gene says some people have more money than sense, and if a part is relatively rare a sort of feeding frenzy kicks in and the sky seems to be the limit, although the items with a ludicrously high reserve are usually non-starters. It's my opinion that we band of brothers usually have our feet on the ground and would not rip each other off, but sometimes people badly need extra cash and per haps fair market value wouldn't apply. Tricky one!
