Re: electric fuel pumps (on TC's)
Good idea. And while we are about it has anyone moved the fuel tank to a safer position?

The later cars have an inertia switch that stops the fuel pump. Do think that
we should add these to our cars?

Re: electric fuel pumps (on TC's)
A fellow club member bought a fuel pump from Pep Boys. Believe that it
was made by Facet. Instructions said to mount at 45 degree angle from
gas tank. Also recommended that a wire be ran from the oil pressure
switch to the pump. Turns out pump required secondary signal, to know
that engine was running (oil pressure). Pump would shut off after 4
minutes of operation. You could install an inertia switch, or install an
electronic oil pressure switch into on oil line banjo fitting, and get
one of these pumps. The oil pressure switch could also be connected to a
buzzer, to sound when oil pressure was low.

Re: electric fuel pumps (on TC's)
Sometimes you can look to the racing T-types for safety ideas. Most of us
have Fuel Cells as required by most race organizers. A Fuel Cell is a metal
tank with an internal bladder which is filled with foam baffling to stop
impact explosion like used on aircraft. Some say the safest place to mount
them is on the rear platform (simple). I chose to mount mine underneath the
back platform (complex). Others have had a custom insert made to go into a
stock tank (expensive). Mine holds 6 US gallons (22 litres) and gives me 1
hour racing time.
As Mark Sherman says, inertia switches are readily available. This month's
MG Vintage Racer's newsletter has a brief article on fitting and
using/testing them. They are just wired in series with the wire to the fuel
pump. It's not a bad idea to install a bypass switch in case you suspect it
has been tripped, but if installed within reach, they have a reset button.
Safety Fast!
