Tonneau question

Just bought a new canvas half tonneau from Moss. It comes with lift-the-dot hardware including studs but I have no idea where I'm supposed to install the studs. Is there a standard placement for them? Drilling into the bodywork is a terrifying thing to do! - Steve S - TC8975, LA, CA

You have two choices: You can put them exactly where Clive did , or where Reginald did in the '40s. You need to review old factory records to see which gentleman installed your studs. Also, be aware that Clive smoked a pipe, and may have installed some by a left hand method. Reginald, on the other hand smoked cigarettes and,, if he was a weensy bit hungover, (took a stout and bitters now and them) he may have misplaced a stud by 1/6" or so. You puts the studs in FIRST, then aligns the snaps in the tinneau to fit the studs. There was not exact placement of the studs, just however Clive and Reginald felt that day! PTH

Or, you can simply put the studs in the holes where the old ones were.... You didn't fill those old holes, now did you? Unfortunately the DPO seems to have filled the holes at some point. I suppose I can just bang around with a sharp punch until the bondo pops out! Sounds like I should wait to compare to someone else's car before firing up the drill. Thanks for the info! - Steve
