Silver is made by mixing aluminium powder with a clear carrier and only comes in one colour unless something else has been mixed with it. Some shops sell 'wheel silver' otherwise just ask for straight 'silver'. Likewise black is black unless something else has been mixed with it. The hardest colour to match is white! Thanks to all who replied on wheel paint colour. It seems all paint is mixed by computer now, feed in a code from a colour chart, then the machine does the rest. I was faced with a bewildering choice of silver - grey - light blues and in all styles of metallic, so chose the simplest silver I could see in the chart. I forgot to ask the paint supplier's name (will get it later) but if anyone is interested, the paint code is B-7-1038-1, whatever that means. I still have no idea how near the original colour this could be, and as I am rapidly losing interest in OP issues, as long as I like it it will have to do. Ian, Good for you. As long as you like it, that's all that matters. Hi All, Eastwood's silver wire wheel paint for British Cars was a perfect match to the wire wheels bought from Moss years ago and in need of touch up. I sanded the scratches smooth, a light touch with the spray can just in the scratched area, and it looked grreat. I was prepared to spray the whole wheel, but it was not necessary. Good stuff. I make $30 per spray can , buy lots! Oh, and my TA never leaves a spot of oil either..... When I made the request for wheel color one of the replies was "Plastikote" Brand Truck and Sport Utility Paint. The number is 1587 Silver Metallic. I found it at Pep Boys but I'm sure other similar stores carry it as well. I can park next to the highly restored cars and not tell a difference. Hope this helps, Sherwood.
