Re: TA batteries
20:1 Compression ratio in a TA??
Surely not an MPJG engine then!!

Hi i used 2 Vauxhall batteries of some kind in my MGC a while ago they
really cranked the engine over but were a real sod to get out of the
wells. They would be better in a TA there is a little more room. They
were far cheaper than MGC ones which in those days had a higher capacity
than the MGB ones and were also heavier on the wallet than MGB ones.
Wired in parallel not series. Even further back i used a Ford Anglia
105e battery (pathetic AH) in the TA on a board with a bungee cord to
hold it in. Those were the days. Seriously any modern battery that
fitted would do and if you have an early TA you should have plenty of
room because the battery compartment is wider than any other model. I do
need to get another 2 Vauxhall type batteries for my TA project very
shortly so i will give my battery supplier a call tomorrow and let you
know what fits. The TA has a compression of 20 to 1 and is being tuned
to do the grand prix circuit straight of Silverstone at 100mph. By the
way are we giving the Grand Prix drivers a tour of the circuit before
the meeting? I want one that does not deliberately crash the car so that
someone else can win, or someone who runs into another car to win and
most certainly not someone who dives a red car!!!!

A question for those with TAs using a single 12 volt battery.
I need to replace my twin 6v batteries. I have always used MGB units but
for reasons of cost I'm
thinking of using a single 12V this time. My question is: what AH
raiting (or cold cranking
current) batteries have been used for TAs with success? It looks as
though the capacity will
inevitably be less than the old pair of 6Volt batteries. Does this
present any problems?
Thanks in advance

Re: TA batteries
A most worthwhile project.
I would suggest a suitable Fuel Mix for 20:1 is
75% petrol 5% benzol and 20% Semtex.
Or you planning to use genuine Welsh Dragons
Blood and Tetraboost?
Would also suggest a reinforced bonnet top and
undertray to catch the cylinder head and sump
respectively.

Re: TA batteries
Hi i was told to look up http://www.motionbattery.co.uk>
www.motionbattery.co.uk it has sizes and AH for most common sizes in
European cars and they say they will beat any price!
I am not so sure about that for brands other than their own but their
own do not look too bad they weigh the same as the branded ones and are
just down on power capacity and have warranty for 3 years.
Worth comparing with at your local dealer.
