At our MG's by the Bay show on Sat. my landlord brought a EXU TC that is virtually untouched and mostly original. It came out of an estate sale here. The spare was a John Bull and well worn and hard......I'm just wondering if John Bulls were the original tyres on export TC's...??? They didn't seem to have much effect on performance, but they were a little tough to fit on the rear. I'm sure its not just the tires, but the correctly sized Dunlops on ol' 71?? don't make it any faster than it was in '56. Probably the geezer behind the wheel and the sense that 50 years of driving has developed are the biggest culprits. Thanks for the memories, Dan Harmer San Diego '48 TC #71?? Yahoo! Hi Terry and all, The John Bull brand were the tires of choice on SA2248 saloon which was untouched since the late 50s. Hard as nails and looked tough, also weighed a ton. Must be for trucks. Cheers, Lee Jacobsen, Mich. SA2333 tickford. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

I had the same experience, went to Sears in 1956 to put new tyres on my newly acquired TC and put the 5.00 x 19 model A Allstates on the car ( 6 as I have double spares) and they were on the car until 2001 when I replaced them with Firestones from Coker Tire. You were right, $12.00/ tire and $6.00/ tube. Carried a spare tube in the side screen box. Coker charged $83.00/tire and $16.00/tube. Coker has the off-set threaded stem on the tubes like the original. -----Original Message----- From: mg-tabc@yahoogroups.com [mailto:mg-tabc@yahoogroups.com]On Behalf Of Terry Sanders Sent: Monday, May 09, 2005 3:07 PM To: mg-tabc@yahoogroups.com Subject: Re: [mg-tabc] tires/tyres At our MG's by the Bay show on Sat. my landlord brought a EXU TC that is virtually untouched and mostly original. Unless they have changed the stock, I found out that the Coker tubes valve stems were too big for the valve stem hole in the rim. Skip Kelsey carries the proper size. Mike K. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Coker sent me motorcycle tubes to use. I got the correct ones from Wades in Tx. Best, Ray "Morology is our profession, our ONLY profession!"

I've had great luck with Universal Tire's heavy duty tube. www.universaltire.com
