On the road again . . .

Post by Tom Wilson » Fri May 06, 2005 3:11 pm

TC4378 made its maiden voyage today after years of not running. Restoration is almost complete - top and bonnet to be installed, work out the bugs, and she's ready to go. Drove 20 miles each way to buy a license plate. Got there and wouldn't start back up - battery dead. Have to find the bug - the ammeter pegs at +20 while driving, so probably a regulator problem. A great guy and his gal rescued me - took me and the battery to an auto parts store, checked it out, recharged it, took me back to the TC. There sure are lots of gallant and caring young people in this world. It felt great to drive a TC again. Tom Wilson Indianapolis, IN 46217 TWilson@Motionwear.com>

On the road again . . .

TC0272 is back on the road again - first time since 1972. Drove about 30 minutes in the neighborhood, and the TC felt strong and fresh. Lots of small details to attend to - like putting the wings on and stuff like that. This is a very pretty TC - even incomplete - in Abingdon Blue with Cerulean Blue interior. Speedo needle is stuck at 40. This is a John Marks rebuilt instrument. Any suggestions before I pull it out and have a go at it? Tom, I know this sounds too easy but sometimes if you wiggle the cable and loosen it just a bit the instrument will work again as advertised. Hi Tom, It's great that TC0272 is moving again! Regarding the speedo, a light tap may get it functional.? The speedo in the TD behaves the same way. Get the TC dressed and send a pic or two. TC0780 and a 56 MGA (neighbor) were clearcoated a couple of nights ago, now sanding out the occasional run and bug. Will send pics. Cheers,?
