I've never seen any factory literature describing works-supplied telescopic shocks. However over the years there have been many aftermarket kits available. Manfred: What leads you to think your telescopic shocks are ex-works?

Walter, Anders Clausager in his book 'Original MG T Series' states that among the factory fitted extras available from the factory were Luvax P.6 piston type shock absorbers. He presumes that these were also available on the TB, as there were no fundamental differences at the chassis level between the TA and TB though he found no specific documentary evidence to support this. For the TC a luggage carrier and a radio were the only options available. He found no mention of any other optional extras. It would be interesting if any one else has more information. Yes, but the piston dampers referred to are not telescopic. The standard TA dampers are rotary vane hydraulic dampers, where the damping is provided by a vane moving through a cylindrical chamber filled with hydraulic oil. The P6 piston damper is the type used as standard on the TC.

Hi guys, I tracked down and installed the P.6 on my TB, removing a set of the telescopic shocks. The P.6 are very similar to the standard TC type shock, but has a different arm, and upper cover. Can anyone with telescopic shock absorbers tell me how they are mounted on the rear. Are they mounted with the pins along the chassis or at 90 degree to the chassis. and is it the same top and bottom. I made some brackets 25 years ago and they have broken the eye on the shock absorber due I think to the axle nosing down at the front when braking (axle wind up) and the new ones I make I want to get right.
