paint/powder coat top frame?
Hi Group,
My metal frame for top has several layers of paint on
it. Any suggestions on weather to paint it vs. having
it stripped and powder coated? Also, would welcome
ideas on original colour? whatever that was vs. black,
British Silver or chrome. Thanks in advance.

Don,
The color of the frame should match the top color. Some early TCs had
black tops and black top frames. Later TCs had tan tops and tan
frames. Do you know know what color of top you plan on using? Paint
the frame to match. Black obviously isn't a problem. Moss sells a tan
top bow paint in spray cans. Personally I can't see that powder coating
would be worth the expense or effort but its your car and your call. If
your TC is a show car, the top bows probably won't be subjected to too
much wear and tear putting the top up and down. And if your car is a
driver the bows don't show with the top down anyway. Who drives their TC
with the top up except in heavy rain?

Charles Hill

Since we are on tops......
Question on sidecurtains and frames...who makes the best TC
frames/sidecurtains in black canvas or duck fabric?
Best,

Ray,
Strictly from hearsay evidence, Mike Collingburn is the best on MG soft
trim but be prepared to be extremley patient on delivery. While
possibly not the best, but then not the worst either, Moss has all their
soft trim on sale. I got their catalog in the mail this week and they
have vinyl and stayfast in both black and tan. Don't know if this is
what you are looking for but worth checking.
