TABC steering column/chassis bracket
Hi All,
I m slowly putting together TA1957. It will have an XPAG engine and standard steering. Will it need a TA or TC column bracket? Could someone confirm the difference between these brackets and which bracket the TB has.

Attachments :Jeff,
The TB has the TC bracket to clear the starter motor on the XPAG, and it's mounted further along the chassis than on the TA
MG TA TB and TC Steering Box Mounting Brackets are these - TB and TC on the left as per this rather poor image from the files~

Hello Clive,
Thanks for the details. Could you confirm my understanding that with a TA chassis and XPAG I would need to use a TC bracket but would also need to use new mounting holes in the chassis.
Regards
Jeff

Thats right Jeff, and there needs to be new three spacers inside the chassis rails to prevent the bolts just crushing the chassis or they will soon become loose after tightening as the chassis deforms. Re: TABC steering column/chassis bracket
Hello Clive,
One further point on using the TC steering bracket on a TA chassis with an XPAG engine. Do you or others have a position for the new bracket/holes? I would like to drill the holes while the chassis is bare. I think this would be easier.
I am also looking at the option of making a special bracket to use the original holes.
Regards
Jeff

Re: TABC steering column/chassis bracket
Jeff, you actually have all the data you need already. Our TB chassis are in fact modified TA chassis and still have the original boltholes for the TA Box ! You will have to position the TC Bracket on the TA in the same place as it it mounted on the TB to give the clearances required.
