Captive nut size

Post by jabawok1 » Wed May 30, 2018 6:02 am

Can anyone tell me for sure what thread the captive nuts in the ash frame are above the front part of the wheel arch in a 1947 MG TC? I have two suggestions: 2BA & 3/16" BSW. Any responses appreciated. John Boocock TC 3621

Hi John, Page 155 (Last paragraph) of Sherrell's TC's Forever indicates 3/16" BSW for captive nuts etc. I assume by captive nuts you mean 'T' nuts? May be difficult to locate a source of these. I got mine on Ebay 'Old Stock' as used by furniture upholsterers. At least in the UK. Kind regards Mike Bate. TC10200 - Wet and soggy Cornwall, UK. Thanks Mike and Doug, I missed the reference in TC's Forever.

3/16" BSW it is then.

John

hi John - there is no problem getting these: I have them in stainless as they are also used to hold the frames to the bottom of the seats. cheers Roger PS I will not be going to Sillystone this year, the Thruxton 50th. sounds more exciting. Usually there is a flurry of orders for stuff to deliver, but thankfully this year there have been none...
