Diatomaceous earth. AKA swimming pool filter material. Sprinkle some on the dirty area, Use a stiff brush, to remove the diatomaceous earth as well as the dirt. I have used Pre-Kleano to remove oil and grease from a canvas top as well. R-M 900 Pre-Kleano is a solvant cleaner that is designed to remove silicone, wax, grease, road tar, and oils. It is recommended to use this product to clean/prep an area before you begin painting. Pre-Kleano will slightly penetrate existing paint for good adhesion for the following paint coats. Mark , Over many years I have had some success following these rules:     1. Don't clean canvas products off the car. The dampness may cause some shrinkage and refitting could be a problem.     2. Use plain water with very little wetting agent (detergent). Time is your friend, let the solution work its magic. Think hours not minutes.     3. Use a VERY soft bristled brush. Typical scrub brushes will damage the nap of the fabric.     4. Rinse well when you have finished - then let dry on the car. Good Luck! I agree with Dan, I have used his method & it works great! The final rinsing is so important...

I have used a mild dish soap and water on my Moss fabric top, soft brush or sponge, and rinse well.  I have also put the tonneau in the washing machine under a gentle cycle with dish soap and stretch out and let dry.  Worked very nicely.
