Distributor vernier

    All, Does anyone know is the pivot peg on the vernier adjustment is screwed or pressed in?  Mine is worn so the dissy can flop about - need to extract and make larger and ream out plate to suit.... Tony TC2256

    If the part is made from Mazak ( the metal handles are made from ) be very careful with the heating it my melt….

    Attachments :All, Thanks for all the replies regarding this. I bottled out of heating it and machined it off and then drilled and tapped it and made a new pivot as this - don't like riveting! Still none the wiser whether pressed or cast in, but suspect the latter and feel may be knurled, too. [img]cid:ii_j8c4mqqg0_15ee42dabf3a6b69[/img] [img]cid:ii_j8c4n2ju1_15ee42de7e5c3aea[/img] Now it's been about 12 years since I last had the distributor off, which brings me to another question....... Should the shouldered bolt, with relieved end that locates the dissy in the hole, and the clamp have a washer to firmly grip the clamp? No mention of a washer in the parts book or instructions and I'm happy with what I've done, so just curious! Tony

    I think a drop of Loctite on the nut threads  will help getting loose .
