Early Round TA engine ID plate
Greetings to all, I am requesting information on the early TA engine ID Plate. I know it was round and the lettering on it was “etched” / raised. Can the TA owner confirm this with a photo and car number to I can see when they changed to the octagon plate similar to the TC. Also, if someone has a round plate that they could loan me as a sample to duplicate I would appreciate it. It will be returned. I have perhaps a dozen photos of TA MPJG Engine # plates ranging from 577 to 3453.The highest # round one is 1841The lowest # octagon one is 2257.Both of these plates I think are original, both the main plate and the centre MPJG.
I have another octagon one at 2116, but the photo is so poor that you cannot tell if it is an original plate or a reproduction.
See attached.
I do not know the Car #s to which these engines were originally fitted
I agree that the original plate has an etched background leaving the letters and narrow outside border raised. The # was then metal stamped.
I do not have any actual plates, just photos.
What is your MPJG Engine #?
Appreciate receiving back any engine plate photos that you can share.
Also have lots of TA thru TC Car # plate and Engine # plate photos if you need to research something there.
