Paints,

Hi Duncan, As you point out there is a high static:noise ratio re prior personal experiences with paints. Not sure if this is a suitable frame of reference, i.e. It has been my experience that failures, be they paint or whatever, are result of lack of proper preparation procedures, indeed following Mfgrs. instructions. The right product for the right job a generation ago might not be the best solution today. Solutions evolve as problems emerge & need to be resolved. Past MAY not be prelude! Luddites beware. Painting is almost all prep work. Applying the final coat is really just the party after all the hard work has been done. Not a big part of the job.   Ed   In a message dated 8/9/2017 9:22:03 A.M. Eastern Daylight Time, mg-tabc-noreply@yahoogroups.com writes:

Painting is , as mentioned, mostly prep,, but done in a particular manner if one wants show quality paint jobs.   This short video explains how I do my painting, note that the waiting between sanding etc to let the paint 'adjust' or 'settle' is also important, as is the sanding......it would be nice to have a heated paint booth, but just having a booth is a plus.....but not required,....did TC0780 in the driveway, single stage urethane, using 'Prevails'.....so you can mix your own paint......available from any of the 'box' stores etc. https://store.preval.com/?gclid=Cj0KCQj ... dkEALw_wcB The one word for a great paint job?.......Patience!       and lots of it.......... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PQtIFKXhvo Cheers, Lee Jacobsen, Dearborn, MI TC0780 -----Original Message----- From: recon6060@aol.com [mg-tabc] mg-tabc-noreply@yahoogroups.com> To: mg-tabc mg-tabc@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Wed, Aug 9, 2017 9:59 am Subject: Re: [mg-tabc] Paints, #ygrps-yiv-1536226793 #ygrps-yiv-1536226793AOLMsgPart_2_baf94b99-de68-4aba-bb92-348705a013bc td{color:black;}#ygrps-yiv-1536226793 .ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolReplacedBody .ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolmail_ygrp-photo-title{clear:both;font-size:smaller;height:15px;overflow:hidden;text-align:center;width:75px;}#ygrps-yiv-1536226793 .ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolReplacedBody div.ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolmail_ygrp-photo{background-position:center;background-repeat:no-repeat;background-color:white;border:1px solid black;height:62px;width:62px;}#ygrps-yiv-1536226793 .ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolReplacedBody div.ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolmail_photo-title a, #ygrps-yiv-1536226793 .ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolReplacedBody div.ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolmail_photo-title a:active, #ygrps-yiv-1536226793 .ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolReplacedBody div.ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolmail_photo-title a:hover, #ygrps-yiv-1536226793 .ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolReplacedBody div.ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolmail_photo-title a:visited {text-decoration:none;}#ygrps-yiv-1536226793 .ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolReplacedBody div.ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolmail_attach-table div.ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolmail_attach-row {clear:both;}#ygrps-yiv-1536226793 .ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolReplacedBody div.ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolmail_attach-table div.ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolmail_attach-row div {float:left;}#ygrps-yiv-1536226793 .ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolReplacedBody p {clear:both;padding:15px 0 3px 0;overflow:hidden;}#ygrps-yiv-1536226793 .ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolReplacedBody div.ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolmail_ygrp-file {width:30px;}#ygrps-yiv-1536226793 .ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolReplacedBody div.ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolmail_attach-table div.ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolmail_attach-row div div a {text-decoration:none;}#ygrps-yiv-1536226793 .ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolReplacedBody div.ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolmail_attach-table div.ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolmail_attach-row div div span {font-weight:normal;}#ygrps-yiv-1536226793 .ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolReplacedBody div.ygrps-yiv-1536226793aolmail_ygrp-file-title {font-weight:bold;} Painting is almost all prep work. Ed ,

Speaking of hard work. Just remind any high school miler who is all puffed up about doing a MOL 4:30 mile, that marathoners have to run a mol 4 38 pace to get a World Record today!
