Morgan???? Have any of you actually DRIVEN a Morgan? If you think a TC is skittish, wait until you sample that "sliding pillar" front end........ If you think MG parts are expensive........well, Morgan parts are in the light aircraft category! They are essentially kit cars pre-assembled in a factory. And yeah, before you ask, I owned one before.......the finest day was the one when I saw it burning someone else's gas. Best, mcg

Well I've read some rubbish in my time, but this takes the biscuit. Morgans (of Malvern in Worcestershire UK) are not kit cars pre-assembled in a factory. There is a very high level of skilled workmanship at Morgan. If you want kit car, then do what MG did and source all the parts out of the parts bin!! Regards Roger Muir

Well - If you take the fact that all the bits - on the Morgans of the TC era to at least the near current cars ( Ive no idea whats in that horrible looking new thing they produce) ie lights dash instruments , body fittings, engine gearbox etc are non Morgan designed then Id say it was a kit car - and have thought so for over 40 years now - have driven lots of them and never found one I liked! Spook, Yes, I have owned and driven many TC's and Morgans and they all drive like crap compared to my BMW. Thats not why we screw around with them. I can tell you that you have never lived until you drive a Morgan SS trike. The scariest contraption ever created! I like morgans because they are usually faster than the MG's. My college transportation was a clapped out TD and a Morgan J.A.P engined tricycle. Hand throttle. Many a smooth and creamy female thigh was branded by the Morgan pipe. No second dates! The MG had its own problem with women in that it had no side curtains. Girls somehow took it amiss when I showed up with a spare raincoat. I got roped into a +4 once, but that is another scary story. Kit car. Triumph engine and trans, someone else's rearend, a square gas tank with lousy pickup........the tale goes on and on. A '77 BMW drives like crap compared to the new BMW, but a nice Morgan changes lanes as fast as a T type with a worn out Bishop box. "Sliding Pillar" refers to the incipient skid awaiting you at every bump. Best, Ray

Spook,Chip et al. My father owned a Moggie trike back in the thirties, and what deeds of derring-do he used to regale me with as a lad! Apparently life was made very exciting by the fact that the thing would overturn on the merest suggestion of a bend, and a hill/bend combination (of which Yorkshire, where my family is from, has a plentiful supply of both) would induce the most frightful aerobatics! Ray, My moggie was Matchless powered. The girls though the MM on the front of the engine stood for Mickey Mouse, but it really meant that there was a Mad Man @ the controls, or whatever the steering devise was called. Sorry you only got one date per ride, but at least you branded them as yours! My BMW is newer, and M-3. No cornering problems! I called the Morgans front suspension the "sliding chiller" I actually got used to it and made sure I left enough room for it's little "hop" through the corners.
