MG TF - 2003 GOLDEN JUBILEE CELEBRATORY TOUR OF SOUTH AFRICA

Post by Gates Family » Tue Jun 25, 2002 12:20 pm

The MG T-Type Register of Southern Africa is organising "The MG T-Type Tusker Tour of South Africa" (MG "TT") to celebrate 50 years since the launch of the "original" MG TF which will run from 17th to 28th September 2003 and will cover some 3500 kilometers (2175 miles). Highlights will include the Kimberley diamond fields, Lowlands of the Eastern Free State, Zulu and Boer War battlefields of Kwa-Zulu Natal, Kruger National Park, Mpumalanga Eastern Highlands and the Limpopo Province. The tour will start at Gariep Dam in the centre of SA and finish at the MG Car Club Pretoria Clubhouse. The entry fee is USD1500 and entries close on 31st May 2003. Paid-up entrants will be entitled to an entry for one vehicle and two persons, twin bed accommodation for each night (excluding the last night), various meals, commemorative "rallye" plate and bumper badge, maps and road books, various tours and excursions, entry fees to arranged game parks, museums and tours, and welcoming and farewell functions. Overseas entrants can ship their cars into Cape Town and join the MG Car Club Cape Town Centre on the drive up to Gariep Dam, or they can join those from Johannesburg Centre who are making an extended tour of the Cape prior to the official start of the event. Cars can then be shipped out of Johannesburg which has a container port or taken back to Cape Town by road or rail. The organisers are able to assist with any other trips tours or travel bookings that entrants may require, for example the Victoria Falls, the Cape wine lands, the Garden Route, the Blue Train and any air flights, etc. As the Tusker Tour is restricted to 30 T- and Y-types (60 persons), an early entry is recommended. Comprehensive colour brochures, which will be available at the July Silverstone meeting, can be emailed to you on request (the file-size is quite large). For further information, please contact me off-list. Regards Joe Gates TC 8675 janus@iafrica.com [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
