Seems like when trying to fix one problem on my TC several more come
up. Now its the windshield. The glass to frame seal was shot, so I
thought I would just replace it. Ordered a new seal from Moss. Also
went ahead and bought a new screw set and the wiper motor wire. The
parts came today and I started taking it apart. Figured it would be a
fairly simple job. Unscrew a couple of hundred screw. Clean everything
up. Put in the new seal and wire. Put everything back together. No
problem.
Wrong! I started finding other things wrong. The reason it leaked
wasn't only the seal, but the windshield itself was cut wrong. The
bottom edge was very uneven and was barely inside the frame in a couple
of places. No wonder it leaked. So the first thing will be to replace
the windshield itself. I can get one cut locally, but I will need a
pattern. Any ideas or suggestions?
The rest is relatively minor. Some of the 2ba screws were replaced with
US machine screws. I kind of suspected that considering what I have
gone thru with the rest of the car. But finding what appears to be a
home made r/h upper corner bracket was a surprise. Guess I'll go ahead
and get the parts rechromed while I'm at it.
BTW, was not impressed with the MOSS "original" wiper motor wire. Think
I'll try the stuff from British Wiring.
