Re: Get a Mac
I also have a Mac, and love it. The only problem with everyone
getting a Mac is that it would make it more attractive to virus
builders, as a larger number of users would make creating a Mac virus
more appealing to them.
In the minority and love it,

A less radical solution would be to dump Internet Explorer and use
Netscape or Opera.
Then there is Linux. I still wouldn't recommend it for everyone, but it
getting better and more user-friendly all the time.
No matter what you use, be careful. Mac and Linux users don't be too
complacent. There are viri out there for them, too. Not as much a
threat as to Microsoft users, but still there.

Very true. There are very few viruses that affect "Classic" Macintosh OS computers (Mac OS 9.x and earlier), partly because Macintosh has a relatively small part of the personal computer market, but also because it is much more difficult to write viruses for Mac. On the other hand it is fairly easy to write viruses that affect UNIX (including LINUX) computers. UNIX viruses are seen often only because UNIX computers represent only a very small percentage of the desktop computer market. However, Mac users should be aware that the new Mac OS X operating system is FreeBSD UNIX with a fancy graphical user interface. Because it's easy to write UNIX viruses, I expect an increase in Mac viruses targeted at OS X. -- Chip Old 1948 M.G. Thass right, better computer by far, but no one knows it, hence no creeps
bother to write Mac specific viri.

Yer right, Chuck. Those poor beknighted users of Wintel boxes are pretty
much stuck w/Explorer. Netscape lots easier on Mac box. Dunno about Linux;
my kid swears by it, however.
