This post contains no information on "Rough Running When Warm." Instead it's to provide additional information to Grahams comments. <<>> I think the charging system can only just keep up with the night-time load when everything is turned on, so it needs support from the battery. <<>> That is a possibility. The output of the Lucas C45YV dynamo is 13 amps at 13 volts. The current consumption of the lights are: Head: Originally 36/36, but most likely 45/36 2@= 90 watts Side: 6 watts each = 12 watts Tail: 6 watts Number plate: 6 watts Panel: 6 at 2.2 each = 13.2 Total: 127 watts divided by 13 volts= almost 10 amps Add in a couple of amps for the fuel pump and ignition = 12 amps total consumption. You now have about 1 amp to charge the battery. If the battery is getting old, it may take more than one amp ot keep it charged. Now add in the: Stop: 18 or 24 = 24 watts or 1.8 amps Horn: ? Wiper: ? Fog: 48 watts or 3.7 amps I think that's why MG went to a C39PV generator with the TD It delivers 17 amps and the later ones 19 amps. Blake
