I need a gearbox for my "parts" TC and have the opportunity to purchase a
Riley RM gearbox. I understand that it is more or less the same unit and
can be used by replacing the bell housing and the rear plate with TC ones.
Has anyone had experience with this conversion? Any comments would be
appreciated.

Hugh
I believe the ratios are same, but the remote is much shorter. The Riley
remote is used by people who have moved the engine/gearbox back for better
weight distribution in a historic racing car.

You will also need to make an adaptor for the first motion shaft.Brian> -----Original Message-----

Re: Riley Gearbox in TC ??
Back in 1972 the TSO published an interchangeable parts list prepared by
Robert J. Gibson an Australian. This is what he says with respect to the Riley
1 1/2 litre gearbox: " Mainshaft Assembly ONLY interchangeable. First motion
shaft and cluster gear NOT suitable. Nuts, bolts, selectors, gear case etc.
interchangeable." Hope this is some help. Terry
