Couple of electrical questions
Happy Holidays to all of you out there celebrating Easter
and Passover.
I have a couple of off-the-wall questions:
First, I have a new spare fuel pump I picked up years ago
when a parts house was going out of business. Question
is how do I tell if it is positive or negative ground?
The numbers on it are AUA25 914.
Second, I need to replace the glass to frame seals on my
TC windshield. While I have the whole thing apart, I
want to replace the wiper motor wire. I've contacted
British Wiring and they sent me a sample of their wire.
It is 18ga plastic covered wire in a black braid sheath
over the 2 wires. First, 18ga seems a little small for
the windshield wiper motor. Am I right? Second, I have
been lead to believe that the wiper motor wire had a gray
plastic cover, not a black cloth braid. Anyone know for
sure? If so, who is a good source?
Regards,
Charles Hill

Re: Couple of electrical questions
Charles
Does the fuel pump have a capacitor on it, if it does not, it make no
difference, it will work fine both ways, on the motor wiper, can not say
for sure on a TC, but on my TD it was "black braid sheath" when I got
the car. On my TA that I am working on, I found only one wire. 18 ga is
probably right, the problems is you only have so much room and the gauge
and distance it runs are related, so you can get away with a smaller
wire, for a short distance, if you do not have much room
I know that moss sells or did sell the "gray plastic cover" wire
Cheers Dean
