Inner dash stays

Post by George Arber » Sat Mar 30, 2002 1:25 pm

I have been having an exchange of information with Michael De Rentz who has been most helpful in pinpointing the correct location of the two flasher relays on our TC EXU. This has however thrown up what appears to be a discrepancy on our car with respect to the inner dash stays and their location. The metal stays on our car are approx. 14 ins. long and both the R/H and L/H are fixed on the inside face of the inner dash just below map reading lights and reach out and down to and are bolted to the tool box face. Whilst there is nothing wrong in principle with this , now that I am fitting the correct flasher relays to the car in there original position, the L/H stay falls foul of the flasher unit which is fitted in between the relays ........I hope that you are all following the plot so far ! Michael has been kind enough to send me a photo of the stays on his car and his locate just under the scuttle from the inner dash to the wood frame piece on the top of the bulkhead and in consequence are about half the length of mine . There is a photo on p179 in ' TC's Forever ' but being taken in a plan view it is not easy to see exactly where they are fastened and /or if they are angled down to the tool box face. I thought that the stays on our car were original but now I am not so sure. Any clarification on this small but important point (at least to me ) would be appreciated. Thanks........George TC EXU 7548

Thank you to those who put me right regarding the correct dash stays - I value your comments. I's ' back to the drawing board ' for me. I guess most of us take two steps forward and three back at times ! George..........TC EXU 7548
