B series engine into TA

Post by DAVID DARRELL » Thu Mar 28, 2002 2:40 am

Silence so there must be a lot of people out there who have done it! At least its better than a japanese engine and MG did experiment with fitting it into the TD in the early 1950s. Any information appreciated - reply off line if you are too embarassed!. I do like original cars but if you have to go to extreme lengths to keep the running then so be it. Yes i do have an original 1936 TA but this is for the 1936 special i am making at the moment.

Dave, If you want a really interesting car, why not put a Rover aluminum V8 in it, like some later MGB's had? Ed

Hey, I like that. I think there's a TD on eBay right now w/a Chev small block in it. In the old days, TC's (& TD's) commonly had (at first), flat head Ford V8-60's, and later up to 3/8 X 3/8 Merc's (=296 cu"). Don TC 7993 (still w/ XPAG/XPEG). Grand Island NY

We stuck one in a TC. It works great. I may still have the drawings for the mounts, if interested. Best, Ray

In addition to the mounts what else is involved? Exhaust is on the opposite side for one. What trans was used? Any clearance problems with steering box, firewall, dynamo, etc? David Edgar, TC 5108 El Cajon, California
