Carb Float bowl banjo bolt hole repair
Anybody know where I can get a 7/16 " - 18 tpi BSF thread repair kit
Helicoil etc ) to repair a couple of MG TC 3478 carb bodies that have
stripped float bowl banjo bolt threads? I'm in Canada so North American
supplier preferred ( Canadian even better ).
Thanks,
Bob Grunau

Wouldn't a couple new/different carb bodies be easier?

Re: Carb Float bowl banjo bolt hole repair
Bob,
Phil Marino does this repair, or used to anyway. He makes up his own
stainless steel inserts to replace the threads. My list of his
services is several years old now but he lists the inserts at $10 USD
each or if you send him the carb body $20 USD each installed. Add
shipping/handling costs to that. With your machining abilities
though you could probably make them up yourself.
BTW- he also does sleeving of the carb throat. Brings back true
circular bore from one that has become oval. That is listed at $45
each. I would have thought he would do the throttle shaft bushing
too but don't see that on his list.
He has no email so: 909-352-4419. Phil had ordered some brake
drums from you many years back so you may have his address on file
but if not:

Re: Carb Float bowl banjo bolt hole repair
Probably easier, but this body has already been rebushed on the shaft and
has new butterfly, shaft and operating arm installed.
Anyway, I like to repair things.
I have ordered a 7/16 " BSF thread repair kit from Uni-Thread in England,
should be here this week.
Thanks to all who gave suggestions.
Regards, Bob Grunau
