Quite a few years ago when we decided to stop bits falling off Penny's TC, we
gently blasted all the panels. ALL the wings were like lacework! If the
people who had put all the work into finishing the isopon / plastic padding
had spent as much time on the actual metal we would have had a pretty good
car. The scuttle top was much the same, while the rest of the body was
filler, supported by dexion, from the chassis up to about 9". All that was
salvageable was the bulkhead and bonnets. I bought a new tub from Moss and
had wings made to fit by a super guy here in Northern Ireland. To offset the
cost of the jigs etc, I clubbed together with a chap who was restoring the
last TC ever built - chassis 10,000. The wings for each car, while of
identical shape overall were finished to each others personal preferences -
pointyness at the front and that sort of thing.
